New Delhi: Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin, who has always voiced her opinion on feminism, recently said it is really funny to see women fighting against other women and claiming that they are the real feminists.
While taking about the upcoming Nicholas Kharkongor directorial, ‘Mantra,’ wherein she will be seen as Rajat Kapoor’s rebellious daughter, the 31-year-old actress told ANI that she thinks feminism is misunderstood in India.
The ‘Margarita With a Straw’ star further said, “I have seen a lot of people fighting about who is the real feminist and it is really funny to see women fighting against other women saying you are not a feminist. I think women should be on each other’s side, supporting each other.”
“Anyone who believes in the equality of men and women and in equal rights is a feminist,” she said.
On the Shiv Sena objecting to the presence of Pakistani actors in Bollywood, the thespian described it as mere politics for self gain.
She added, “I think it really doesn’t matter what your nationality is as long as you have talent and people should accept each other for their talent, not for origin.”
Kalki will be next seen in’ Mantra’ starring Shiv Pandit and will also appear in the movie ‘Jia O Jia’ with Richa Chadda.
