Hyderabad, January 18: It is more than often that one comes across scriptural excerpts and prose where nature is considered and presented as a female entity.
The selfless devotion and submission of nature towards mankind is frequently related to the affection a mother showers on her child.
The ongoing show of paintings at Alankritha art gallery celebrates such magnificence of nature. The works have been done by artist Bhavana Choudhary and the series has been titled, A Woman’s Heart.
With sensitive rendering the artist explores the many gifts and facets of nature in her works.
The style adapted by the artist is just in between being completely realistic or abstract.
The surroundings are done in fragmented sections which at a glance give an impression of being geometrical.
And yet the softness of colour application keeps the works away from falling into being highly geometrical and monotonous.
The artist rejoices in placing a female figure in most of her works, which seems to be in complete harmony with the natural elements around.
The protagonist often gets camouflaged with nature and appears as an extension of its (nature’s) physical and metaphysical aspects.
Each work gives an impression of an allegory taking place. Subtle and lyrical, conversations exchanged and shared between the ‘nayika’ and ‘prakriti’ swiftly flow throughout the picture surface.
Like music which is as soothing, harmonious and natural as the sound of a flowing river. The exhibition is on at the Alankritha art gallery till January 22.
