Minority Community leaders of TRS demanded Mr. Damodhar Raja Narasimha, Deputy Chief Minister who is also holding the portfolio of higher education to make an announcement for payment of fees of Minority students studying in Engineering Colleges under the fees reimbursement Scheme of the Govt.
A delegation of TRS leaders belonging to Minority Communities led by Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali, President of Minority Cell and member of Politburo of TRS met Mr. Narasimha yesterday and presented a memorandum to him. They apprised him of the unrest of the Muslim Community about the fees reimbursement scheme and demanded to make a clear announcement for payment of fees to poor students.
The members of the delegation told him that with the imposition of condition of getting ranks up to 10 thousand as the eligibility criteria for getting fees reimbursement is unjust for the Minority candidates. Govt. knows that only a few Muslim candidates would be able to achieve EAMCET ranks up to ten thousand. This scheme will benefit the students belonging to S.C’s and S.T’s only. They demanded to extend the benefits of this scheme to other communities as well.
They told that according to the reports of Sachar Committee and Ranganatha Mishra Commission, the Muslims are worse than S.C’s and S.T’s in the field of education. It is therefore, necessary for the Govt. to help them. They also told that if full fees are given to the Muslims, there would be a financial burden of Rs.30 to Rs.40 crore only to the Govt., which is a meager amount. Mr. Narsimha promised that he would talk to C.M. in this regard. These leaders supported the campaign of Mr. Zahid Ali Khan also.
