(Siasat News) The Cabinet Sub-Committee Report on fees Reimbursement has met with conflicts. 1t was suggested in the report that Govt. would pay Rs. 31,000/- to the students of Engineering courses, whereas the excess amount of fees has to be either paid by the student. or Govt. would arrange loans from the banks. The experts committee recommended that only those students would be eligible to get fees reimbursement who would qualify the examination securing 50% marks. This suggestion has been made by admission and fees regulatory committee in case the fees for engineering courses is enhanced.
Soon after the presentation of these recommendations of cabinet sub-committee, Congress Party itself started opposing it. Mr. D. Nagender and Mr. M. Mukesh Goud, Minister opposed these recommendations and said that the Backward Communities will go away from Congress Party with this move. They said that full fees should be reimbursed to the candidates belonging to Backward classes.
Members belonging to other political parties have also opposed this proposal. Reliable sources indicated that Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy will negotiate with the members of cabinet sub-committee very sources to resolve this issue.
It was reported that hitherto Rs. 31,000 under category A and Rs. 74 to Rs. 90 thousand were being collected towards fees from Engineering students. Govt. said that it will fix uniform fees for all the categories of students. In this connection, managements of certain colleges have approached High Court. It is said that Govt. is prepared to fix Rs. 35,000 instead of Rs. 31,000 uniformly for all the categories. Out of 117 engineering colleges in the state, nearly 100 colleges have agreed to this proposal.
The experts’ committee will present its final report to Chief Minister after reviewing all these proposals and C.M. will take a decision by placing it in the cabinet meeting.
Sources close to C.M. indicated that the majority of the private engineering colleges may accept Rs.35,000 as fees and hence it is likely that this issue would be resolved in a pleasant manner.
Since C.M. and Congress President are in New Delhi, the final decision could be taken only on their arrival in Hyderabad.
