Hyderabad, August 15: India became independent on 15th August 1947 and on 15th August 2001 the first Urdu Channel of ETV was launched from Hyderabad. Many channels were telecasting Hindi and English programmes but there was no channel of Urdu programmes.
Mr. Ramoji Rao started Urdu Channel. During the past ten years, it faced many difficulties but keeping in view the feelings of Urdu viewers, news and features were presented in a transparent way and there was no compromise as far as quality was concerned. Urdu Channel of ETV made an attempt to highlight the issues pertaining to Urdu knowing people especially the Minorities.
The channel communicated the voice of those people whose pleas were not heard by the authorities. Besides cultural programmes, religious programmes were presented. In the morning, the programmes begin with the recitation of the Quran. Programmes for ladies and poets also form part of its schedule.
