Feed the needy, feed the hungry, Mayor exhorts hoteliers

Hyderabad: “The Sprit of Hyderabad to is to feed the needy”, said GHMC Mayor Dr Bonthu Rammohan while addressing a meeting with representatives of Hoteliers, function Halls, and NGOs in GHMC Head Office, here today.

“Feed the need-feed the hungry instead of going waste of excess food in Hotels, function halls and at homes”, said the Mayor. The citizens should come forward and take part with the GHMC in its initiative as a facilitator between donors and needy and make it a new beginning in the Hyderabad among urban cities, said the Mayor. “Feed the need/feed the hungry –nobody should go hungry in the city” program being organized by GHMC on February 14.

In the initial stages, the program would be on full fledge on important dates i.e. 2nd October, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi, Independence day 15th August, Republic Day 26th January and so on. It is opportunity to show our love towards our country, said Commissioner M. Dana Kishore, He appealed to the citizens to come forward and participate in social action for a good cause and show that urban living people are much more co-operative towards social cause.
He also said the GHMC would play a vital role and bring all the donors on one flat form and bridge the gap, that the waste and excess food be distributed in organized way and see that the food will reach to the needy / hungry ones said the Commissioner.

EPTRI MD. Kalyan said the people should know that for production of 1 kg rice An amount 2500liters of water is required and much utilization of energy/ efforts / fertilizers invested by the farmer. Zonal Commissioner Harichandna said many NGOs and Hoteliers expressed to join hands with the GHMC in this noble cause. Apple homes are providing public Refrigerators and they would be placed at Government Hospitals and slums etc. Sree Shakthi Group of Hotels, Pista House and others have agreed to help GHMC initiatives in this regard.
Zonal Commissioner, Shankariah and Asst.Medical Officers and other senior official participated in the meeting.
