Hyderabad, April 09: The state government will clear all tuition fee reimbursement dues to college managements by July.
Addressing a press conference here today. Group of Ministers Committee on Scholarships Pitani Satyanarayana, Botsa Sat yanaraya n a , Mohd Ahmedullah and P Balaraju said that out of the balance of Rs 2,690 crore, the government agreed to release Rs 900 crore by April 30, another Rs 900 crore by May 31 and the remaining by the end of July.
Last month the government had deposited Rs 1,000 crore in different bank accounts for clearing fee reimbursement dues of STs (100 pc), SCs (75 pc) and BCs (25 pc).
They said the government would establish four centres of excellence colleges in Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Visakhapatnam and one in Rayalaseema to impart top-class education to 500 students of weaker sections.
The government is providing Rs 38,000 each as scholarship to 2,500 students to impart best Intermediate education in corporate colleges, but the failure percentage is between 15 percent and 20 percent. The government will pick at least 500 to 600 students among them and provide best education a the centres of excellence.
To avoid misuse of scholarships by managements, the government has decided to take the fingerprints of students and maintain their record and check the malpractices, if any, adopted by the managements.
As different colleges are levying different special and tuition fees causing inconvenience to parents, a committee will be appointed to have uniform fee structure in the state.
