Hyderabad: An interfaith gathering was organised by The Federation of Telugu Churches at the St Mary’s Basilica, today at 6pm. In an effort to express solidarity and to condemn the terrorist attacks that recently happened in Sri Lanka, and to spread a message of oneness and peace amongst humankind, the Catholic Church led by the Bishop, organised this walk from the St Mary’s Basilica to the protestant church of St Wesleys Church, near the Clock Tower in Secunderabad, and was attended by quite a few prominent personalities of Hyderabad.
The reverend Dr. Anthony Raj Thumma, started with a prayer, followed by Mirza Yawar Baig talking about how the only solution to this evil in terrorism in to stick together as one. He very strongly condemned the terrorist act in Sri Lanka, and said that terrorism is an act against humanity and not just religion or caste or colour, and should be dealt with by all faiths and people coming together as one.
Ex-Commissioner Mr. A K Khan, followed it up with not just condemning the acts of terrorism, but also said that these people should be dealt with a strong hand.
This was followed up with a few more renowned personalities from the Churches and a couple more of well-known people from Hyderabad.
The event was attended by a great number of people who carried small led candles to show support for the victims of all terrrorist acts.
