Hyderabad, January 15: Political uncertainty, triggered by the Jagan and Telangana factors, appears to have engulfed the babudom too. A substantial number of IAS officers have decided to quietly leave the State for at least a period of one year in the hope that by the time they return, things might change for the better.
Apart from the J and T issues, the IAS fraternity is also reportedly upset over the lack of cohesive functioning at the top.
Top sources disclosed to Express that eight IAS officers had applied for foreign training programmes sponsored by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) in the last few months. “IAS officers, Jayesh Ranjan, Luv Agarwal and Sanjay Kumar, who have applied for these training programmes recently, are seriously pursuing the issue with the DoPT in New Delhi to get the green signal at the earliest,” the sources said.
Others looking forward to leave the State are Naveen Mittal and Krishna Babu. Interestingly, three officers — Raghunanda Rao, Srinivas Raju and Sridevi — too have applied for the DoPT foreign training programme.
“There is no proper coordination at the top. Due to this, administration is getting badly affected. The Chief Minister is bogged down by political instability..
anarchy prevails in the administration as no one knows what happens next. It is better to move out,” an official said, summing up the mood among the officials.
Once they get the nod, the babus will join a course at the London School of Economics, Dukes near Washington or Minnesota for a period of one year. The DoPT sponsors courses only in these institutions. Harvard University was removed from the list some time ago.
Sources said normally, just one or two officers apply for the DoPT programme every year but this year, the number has gone up drastically.
IPS officers too appear to be in a similar situation as their IAS cousins.
Endless hours of “law and order situation” and “political postings” seem to be taking a toll on them. Sources said Shikha Goel and her husband, Vijay Kumar, also an IPS, are set to leave for Delhi on deputation with the CISF and the IB respectively. Ravishanker Ayyanar and Mahesh Chandra Laddha have already gone on deputation to the NIA while RK Meena has joined MHA.
