A UN report indicate that the rebels of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) have killed at least 50 civilians in eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) since the beginning of May.
“Since the start of this month, at least 50 people — including displaced persons — have been killed by presumed FDLR members under similar conditions,” the United Nations humanitarian.
OCHA added that the rebel group killed 22 people in an attack in the village of Kamananga in Sud-Kivu Province on Monday.
The humanitarian agency blamed FDLR rebels for the killings.
The FDLR and several other armed groups are the main sources of instability in the east of the DR Congo.
The Rwandan army and the DR Congo army are jointly fighting with the rebels.
