Safety check feature offered by Facebook has been activated after a massive fire that broke out in West London’s Grenfell Tower with many casualties were reported.
The safety feature has been activated throughout the capital though the Grenfell Tower fire is located in the North Kensington area of West London with many Facebook users being asked to mark themselves safe on FB.
The ‘safety check’ feature of Facebook automatically activates as soon as an event reported, sending notifications to people present in the area to mark themselves safe on the site which would help their friends families and others know about their safety and also trace their current location.
The feature has not been welcomed in the past as it would create unnecessary panic among people indicating those who may not have marked themselves safe yet may actually not be safe.
The same panic was recently caused among people after the massive fire that broke out in West London was reported and the safety feature giving alerts about “The Fire in London”, covering other areas as well including Newham which is located in East London a completely different location.
Apart from the panic caused the app also helps people connect and reach out to send help offering them food and shelter to those who were caught in the incident, the Independent reported.
