Kiran Bedi today amplified the perception that she is a sore loser by suggesting that she lost her constituency in East Delhi because a leading Muslim cleric had appealed to Muslims to support her political rival, the Aam Aadmi Party or AAP.
Kiran Bedi has done it again! Just a day after results of Delhi elections were announced, BJP’s CM candidate Kiran Bedi said that she should not be blamed for the defeat. It was all fault of a fatwa issued by Jama Masjid’s Shahi Imam Bukhari.
The evening before Delhi voted, Syed Ahmed Bukhari, the Shahi Imam of India’s biggest mosque, the Jama Masjid, said he wanted Muslims to support Mr Kejriwal’s party in the interests of secularism.
“I have been told that Fatwa led to my defeat. Election Commission should inquire into this. Infact, do a study on how Fatwas affect votes,” Bedi said while speaking to mediapersons.
AAP REBUFF ”
AAP leaders were quick to denounce his statement as an unacceptable attempt to divide voters along religious lines.
Launching a scathing attack at BJP leader Kiran Bedi over her fatwa remark, AAP leader Raghav Chadha has said that she needs to introspect rather than blaming such factors for her defeat.
Further on AVAM issue, Chadha told ANI, “Everybody knows that the BJP has been cropping up organisations from AVAM to IMAM to malign AAP’s image.”
