Hyderabad, August 26: One Patnam Maheshwar Goud and his son Vijay Pratap were arrested on Wednesday following a complaint from the latter’s wife that the duo was physically and mentally harassing her for additional dowry.
The complainant, Ms Vishnupriya of Vidyanagar of Hyderabad, said that she was married to Vijay Prathap last year. She said that her parents gave the groom Rs One crore and performed the marriage on a grand scale. Even before a year, she started facing physical, mental and sexual harassment from her father-in-law.
Ms Vishnupriya alleged that after a few months of the marriage, her father-in-law started demanding her to fulfill his carnal desire. She said that her husband also remained calm when she complained to him about his father’s sexual advances. When she refused to obey her father-in-law to surrender herself, both Maheshwar Goud and his son started harassing her to bring additional dowry.
The hapless woman said that she kept the atrocities of the father-and-son duo keeping in view the family’s prestige. When the harassment has become unbearable, she chose to approach the police resulting in the duo cooling their heels in the police lock-up.
