The newly-formed Document Fraud Investigation Team (DFIT) of police has arrested three persons for allegedly selling the same land to two buyers and pledging it twice. Police Commissioner J Purnachandra Rao said Peela Krishna Rao of Pendurthy had got land measuring 15 cents (736 square yards) from his late father Jagga Rao. He sold off 288.5 square yards to Pentakota Parvathy in July 1999. Later, he gifted it to his son, Jagadish by forging documents. They pledged the gift deed and obtained a loan of Rs 3 lakhs from the Pendurthy branch of State Bank of India in 2006. The loan is yet to be repaid. Meanwhile, Krishna Rao executed another gift settlement deed in favour of his son in March 2007, and they obtained another loan for Rs 6 lakh from the Repco Home Finance Limited at Dwarakanagar in April 2007. Later, the same land was sold to Vabbina Bhavani for Rs 20 lakh. Ramana Murthy, a document writer, too has been arrested. They would be produced in the court tomorrow. PTI
