Hyderabad: He told her to call him “papa” and treated her like a daughter, even picking her up from school and giving her pocket money.
But when this 13-year-old girl was alone at his home with him in the absence of his wife, he sexually assaulted her. When she screamed for help, he hit her with the handle of saw and cut her wrist.
On another occasion, he came to the house fully intoxicated and undressed her in the middle of the night and tried to molest her. He threatened to kill her if she did not remain mum about this.
On 30 May 2015, the 48-year-old married father Ramesh who didn’t have his own child adopted the girl in 2015. He merely introduced himself as “Papa” when he brought the girl to his house. A few months he revealed his inhumanity by repeatedly molesting her.
The girl’s mother eventually found out what happened and lodged a police report at the Ghatkesar police station after which he was taken into judicial custody.
On Monday, the Judge of IX Addl. District Sessions Court convicted the accused for sexual penetration of a minor and sentenced him for up to 5 years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 2,500.
