Hyderabad, January 4: The State government has decided to ban meetings, dharnas, hunger strikes and use of microphones in the MLA Quarters.
A meeting of whips of different political parties, called by the Deputy Speaker, Mr Nadendla Manohar, has taken this decision on Monday.
It may be recalled that the TDP chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, has recently staged an indefinite fast in the New MLA Quarters, causing law and order problem and inconvenience to members of different parties.
The government also decided to make special arrangements for media conferences in the Assembly. While it was suggested that the media point on the Assembly premises be removed, the main Opposition TDP opposed the proposal. Mr Dhulipala Narendra, TDP MLA, said that his party has opposed all moves to cause inconvenience to the media.
However, the government has decided to make special arrangements for media conferences. The meeting also decided that media representatives should carry Assembly passes even when the House was not in session. The meeting, in another decision, has felt it necessary to evict non-members from the MLA Quarters. Visitors would be allowed into the Assembly only if they have passes.
The BJP State president and floor leader, Mr G Kishen Reddy, demanded the Deputy Speaker to allow the reporters 365 days by issuing identity cards. He also demanded that the Deputy Speaker arrange to construct a special media hall with all facilities and a canteen.
Mr Dulipalla Narendra (TDP), Mr Koppula Eshwar (TRS), Mr Anil (PRP), Mr Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Mr Kondru Murali (Congress), Mr G Kishen Reddy (BJP) attended the meeting.
