Fasting Muslim woman standing in bank queue assaulted by police

Nizamabad: Even after the lapse of 44 days, the rush in the banks is not decreasing. A woman standing in queue for getting money from the bank in Boodhan, Nizamabad was beaten up ruthlessly by a woman police constable. Hundreds of persons staged “Rasta Roko” program at Boodhan road with disrupted traffic.

According to the reports Ms. Saba Begum of Malapally was standing in queue at State Bank of Hyderabad, Arsapally branch. When the mob became out of control, the woman police constable started beating Ms. Saba Begum. When Saba Begum got angry at the woman police constable, another police constable started attacking Saba Begum. The other persons standing in queue protested against the police behaviour. The affected woman was shifted to II town police station. She was threatened in the police station and was forced to apologies police constable.

The woman standing in queue protested against the police for shifting Ms. Saba Begum to police station. They staged dharna. A large number of protester assembled there. Mr. Ravinder, HO of II Town Police came with a heavy contingent of police and negotiated with the agitators. The agitators demanded the police to release the arrested woman and take severe action against the police constable who assaulted her.

On receiving information, Mr. Anand Kumar, ACP, North Zone arrived at the spot and spoke to the agitators and also consulted Mr. Kartikiyal, Commissioner of Police. The woman was released. Mr. Anand Kumar assured the agitators that if found guilty, police constables would be punished. On his assurance, “Rasta Roko” program was withdrawn. Mr. Imran Shahzad, President of TRS Minorities Cell of Nizamabad demanded the ACP to take stern action against the police constables who assaulted the woman. Ms. Saba Begum was fasting. When police constable attacked her, she feel down. The women standing in the queue got angry at the police.

It may be mentioned that the rush in the bank has not been reduced yet. In all the branches of the banks in Nizamabad not more than Rs. 4000 is given to the customers. For getting Rs. 6000 or Rs. 100000, bank managers have to be requested.
