Fashion mentoring classes held for Lakme Fashion Week gala

6Degree, a fashion talent and tech platform, hosted their first mentoring programme in association with Lakme Fashion Week to select three designers who will showcase at the forthcoming winter-festive edition of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) in Mumbai.

Titled #GetLFWReady, it was a two-day fashion mentoring programme where emerging designers got a word of advice from fashion industry veterans like Neeraj Gaba, Yogesh Chaudhury, Amit Khanna, Urvashi Joneja, Ajay Kumar, Feroza Dalal and Gautam Vazirani.

The workshop was a mix of designing, photography, styling, image building, merchandising/retailing of products and gave insights and guidance on showcasing at the fashion week. It was held from July 25.

Out of the nine designers who participated in the programme, three will get selected to showcase their collection on the runway at The 6Degree Show at LFW, which will be held at St. Regis here from August 24-28.

The emerging designers presented their collections to the mentors, and the names of the chosen ones will be announced in the first week of August.

Nikhil Hegde, Co-Founder and CEO, 6Degree said: “We take special pride in discovering new designers, many emerging from smaller cities with extraordinary talent and flair.

“Talented emerging designers are luring the modern fashionista with experimental and creative innovations and we are proud to be the curators for such fashion”

Gaba said: “#GetLFWReady is a first-of-its-kind initiative in India that not only mentors prospective and yearning designers on various facets of a fashion week participation for their maiden voyage towards becoming a part of established properties, but also aids them in getting ready to handle buyer behaviour, aligned requirements and brand building exercises.”
