Farmers told to focus on soya bean seed production

C Parthasarathi of Agriculture and Allied Departments has asked the agriculture staff to look after the soya bean seed production cultivation following the agriculture scientists’ suggestions.

 

Parthasarathi organized a review meeting at Nampally Haka Bhavan here on Friday with Telangana Seed Production Institute and other officials. He asked the officials and staff to give adequate suggestions to the farmers on soya bean seed production. He said that the State government was encouraging farmers, who were cultivating cotton in their fields, to cultivate other than cotton in 5 lakh hectares.

The farmers were cultivating pulses in about 2.5 lakh hectare. He said about 10,000 farmers from 520 villages were cultivating soya bean seed production in 45,000 acres. The field staff have to suggest the farmers every time to produce quality soya seeds. The farmers have to use 0.3ml Korajam by mixing it in 10 liter water to control the yellow color mojayick virus, which spreads from white mosquito. The farmers have to place yellow sticker on field dividers.

He said that the farmers have to use neem oil to control the white mosquito. He also asked the farmers to use 9305, Vikranth, Jes 335 types of seeds to produce good yield. He said that the farmers have to take more careful steps to save their crop as rains would come heavily in September. Parthasarathi said that the officials have to concentrate on the farmers of Mahabubnagar, Warangal and Khammam where they were cultivating soya bean crop on experimental basis.

Seed Production Institute managing director Murali, Viththana Druveekarana Samstha director Kesavulu, Agriculture University scientist Raji Reddy, Jagithyal research center scientist Laxman participated in the review meeting. (NSS)
