Amid the ongoing confrontation between the Delhi Police and the Arvind Kejriwal-led government over the suicide of a farmer named Gajendra Singh, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas on Friday said the truth in this matter would come out after the magisterial inquiry.
“The Delhi Police is investigating the matter and a magisterial inquiry is also going on. We will get to know further after that,” Vishwas told the media when asked as to why Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had issued an apology three days after the untoward incident.
“The truth will come out after the magisterial inquiry. The media has also been asked for footage, we should wait,” he added.
According to reports, the Delhi Police today refused to submit documents for an inquiry ordered by the Kejriwal-led government into the alleged suicide of the farmer during an AAP rally earlier on Wednesday.
District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar had asked the police to share the papers, including records of the police alert, the complaint and the medical report, related to the case.
The AAP, which rules Delhi, has ordered an inquiry by a District Magistrate, while the Union Home Ministry has asked the police to investigate.
Meanwhile, CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta while commenting on the issue alleged that the AAP is doing everything for political reasons.
“The Congress and BJP is targetting the Aam Aadmi Party but that does not mean the Aam Aadmi Party isn’t a fault, they are doing it for political reasons,” he told the media in Coimbatore.
Kejriwal today spoke to the family members of Gajendra Singh, the farmer who committed suicide during the AAP’s rally in New Delhi, over the phone.
Earlier in the day, Kejriwal had acknowledged that he had made a mistake by continuing to speak at his party’s ‘Kisan Rally’, even as the farmer had committed suicide, admitting that he should have called off the rally.
Kejriwal further said that the debates surrounding the issue over the past two days have not helped solve the issues of the farmer.
Gajendra had committed suicide on Wednesday by hanging himself from a tree during an Aam Aadmi Party rally against the Land Acquisition Bill in New Delhi.
As per reports, a suicide note was found that revealed the farmer, who had three children, was banished from his house after his crop was damaged. He took the extreme step because he had no means to support his family. (ANI)
