Farmers’ income will increase four-fold if they get seeds, water in time: Adityanath

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): At a time when the Centre aims to double farmers’ income by 2022, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath opined that farmers’ income will witness four-fold increase if they are given seeds, water, and other facilities on time.

Speaking at an event here, Adityanath, who launched a scheme for farmers under the banner of “Mission of Excellence”, said:”If farmers get appropriate seeds, water on time, and if the government purchases their crops at the correct time, then farmers’ income will not just be doubled but it will see a four-fold hike.”

Adityanath criticised the preceding governments for their “incompetence” towards addressing farmers’ distress in the country.

“There were various pending farmers’ schemes, but Samajwadi Party did not want to implement them, due to which farmers had to suffer.”

“In the past 20-21 years, former governments made many announcements, but there was less implementation. But when PM Modi came to power in 2014, he stressed on working for the villagers, women and, youngsters of this country.”

Adityanath also highlighted various farmers’ schemes which were implemented by the Centre including Prime Minister Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme and farm loan waiver schemes.

“Soon after coming to power in 2017, we gave Rs 1 lakh as farm loan waiver to farmers. Many state governments followed our path but were not as successful as the Uttar Pradesh government. MSP of wheat in 2017 was Rs 1,460, but now it is Rs 1,840 and an additional Rs 20 was also provided to farmers,” he added.
