Farmers in Haritha Haram from Sept 27: Jogu

Telangana set a record in Haritha Haram program as 10 districts achieved 100 per cent target. Green drive will be conducted from Sept 27 involving farmers to plant 12 lakhs of saplings, Minister for Forest and Environment Jogu Ramanna said.

The Minister said that in just three years the officials concerned are able to plant as many as 32 cr saplings across the state. The minister asked the officials to launch the Haritha Haram program in October and reach the target of planting 40 cr saplings. Ramanna said that the officials were asked to start the plantation drive form Sept 27 to plant 12 lakhs of saplings. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao started the green drive third phase at Karimnagar on July 12 last. Districts achieved 100 per cent target are Medchel, Warangal Urban, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Warangal Rural, Kama Reddy, Siricilla, Mancherial, Nizamabad, Jagitial and 16 other districts achieved 70 per cent target. Officials of rural development, forest have set up tree guards and pouring waters to protect the saplings while 4,56,704 green brigade teams are on the job to protect them about 69 per cent saplings got geo-tagging.
