Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy today informed the Assembly that the TRS Government was committed to strengthen farm sector by providing timely succor to the farmers.
During a short discussion on agriculture, Harish Rao slammed the Congress and other members for faulting the government on crop loan waiver. The government had released Rs 16,500 crore out of Rs 17,500 crore committed by the government and the rest will be released by making allocations during the next budget, he said. The TRS Government proved that agriculture was yielding positive results though it was proved otherwise during previous regimes, he said.
The Agriculture Minister flayed the Congress for seeking one-time release of funds for loan waiver. “Our aim is to irrigate one crore acres in five years and a plan was on cards to complete the irrigation projects”, he said. Taking directive from Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the official machinery has geared up to tackle the farm-related issues by appointing some 100 agriculture officers, he added.
Admitting that some bankers had caused hurdles to the farmers with regard to loans and interest, he claimed that only Telangana State was doing well in agriculture sector. “We got the State to address the problems and efforts were being made to transform the new State into Golden Telangana”, he asserted.
