Farm committees to boost Agriculture: Pocharam

Stating that the State government has launched farmers’ coordination committee meetings to create awareness among the farmers on crop investment till September 14, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was planning to make the farmer king by turning agriculture as a most profitable avocation.

The minister was speaking at an awareness program of farmers at Bichkunda in Kamareddy district attended by over 2000 farmers. As part of the plan, 10,733 revenue villages will get coordination committees with 15 members, including coordinator, 24-member committees will have at mandal level. The list will be approved by the minister concerned. District coordinate meetings will be formed by September 14, he added.  

The minister exhorted the farmers to coordinate for providing their data of farming lands with the officials coming for land survey. The Government has launched comprehensive land survey to find details so as to give the farmers crop investment of Rs 8,000 per acre from next May, he said and appealed to farmers resource persons to make successful the programs and informed on crop investment scheme, crop colonies, soil test, fertilizers use, support price and others. The farmers should be aware of these issues and support the officials.

“We have conducted similar meetings in 577 mandals in 30 districts so far. These are not political meetings but they would help the farmers to remain united and get benefits from the government in future”. The minister also said these meetings will relieve the farmers from the problems cropped up during the last 70 years. “KCR is aware of the problems of farmers and taking up several schemes for their welfare. The entire nation is evincing interest in such schemes and some States are following our unique methods”, he claimed. (NSS)
