MBT candidate from Yakutpura Assembly constituency Mr. Farhat Khan was arrested on his way to Makkah Masjid.
Police has virtually put Mr. Farhat under house arrest. Police served a notice to Mr. Majeedullah Khan Farhat, who had planned to offer Friday prayers at Makkah Masjid on April 25, requesting him not to head for Masjid to challenge political rivals; saying that as per the election code of conduct using religious places for electioneering is not allowed.
It must be recalled that Majeedullah Khan Farhat had challenged Owaisi brothers and Yaqutpura MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan to come to Makkah Masjid for Friday prayers and announce that they would endow all their properties and assets for the community, to prove their dedication for the people. Farhat Khan said he was ready to give everything that he owns to the public. Police directed Farhat Khan to avoid going to Makkah Masjid as it would cause law and order problem.
Mr. Khan reacted strongly on the notice served to him saying that by the manner in which restrictions are imposed, it seems that police is trying to crush voice of truth. He further said he doesn’t want to go to Makkah Masjid as part of electioneering rather for the sake of strengthening unity among Muslim community.
Late at night a heavy police pickets was deployed at the residence of Mr. Majeedullah Khan Farhat at Chanchalguda and he was virtually put under house arrest.
