To celebrate Swami Vivekananda’s Birth anniversary, the New Jersey-based American Telugu Association organized a meet and greet program with renowned mountaineer Poorna Malavath. The event was held at the Mughlai Darbar restaurant in New Jersey.
ATA President Sharath Vemula president over the event along with the other associations Board of Directors Srinivas Dargula, Vijay Kunduru, and Srikanth Gudipati, and Ram Vemula.
Malavath is known for her feats of scaling Mount Everest in 2014 and five other mountains after that. Around 100 children participated in this programme as they attentively listened to her.
Whether it was her first accomplishment in 2014 or the latest one of climbing Mount Vinson in Antarctica in 2019, she inspired the audience — young and old.
Malavath said she initially wanted to pursue IAS but instead opted for mountain climbing. This drew applause from the audience.
