Family, leaders pay rich tributes paid to YSR

Rich tributes were paid to former chief minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy on his third death anniversary on Sunday.
YSR’s widow and YSR Congress party honorary president Vijayalakshmi, daughter Sharmila, son-in-law Anil Kumar, daughter-in-law Bharati, brother YS Vivekananda Reddy and other family members paid tributes and offered special prayers at his grave in Idupulapaya in Kadapa district.

Speaking on the occasion, Vivekananda Reddy said that YSR would live forever in the memories of people of Andhra Pradesh. Recalling YSR’s services for the State, he said that all sections of the society benefitted from the innovative welfare schemes introduced by former Chief Minister. He also accused the State Government of diluting the schemes.
However, he hoped that people would bring back “Rajanna Rajyam” under the leadership of his son and YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Union Minister Veerappa Moily, Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana and other ministers and leaders too paid rich tributes to YSR by garlanding his statue at Panjagutta. “We always remember him. He will always be alive in hearts of people,” said Moily.

Talking to reporters, Botsa Satyanarayana said that YSR was a true leader of common people. As an opposition party leader, He undertook padyatra for 1400 kilometres to understand the problems being faced by people and solved them after coming to power.
He said the Congress party would always remember as the leader who served people and brought the Congress party to power twice.

The former Chief Minister YSR was killed in a helicopter crash on this day in 2009. The helicopter carrying him from Hyderabad to Chittoor district crashed due to bad weather in Kurnool district on September 2. Four others, including two pilots, were also killed in the crash. (INN)
