The family of the Gurupreet Singh who died in the crane accident would be granted Rs. 13 Lakh: Mayor announce

Hyderabad: 45-year-old Gurupreet Singh is from Punjab had come to Hyderabad in search of work and was working as the crane operator. The crane tumbled as he tried to lift the girder (construction material) used in constructing the Shaikpet flyover. Though Gurupreet tried to escape when the crane was collapsing but he failed.

GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore said, “The crane broke down and overturned due to over load while lifting a girder at the construction site around 3 am on Tuesday. He explained that the capacity of the crane was less and the crane was carrying a heavy weight material around 800 tonnes by noticing the crane collapse a worker jump down but the crane operator, Gurpreet Singh could not able to escape and died in the mishap.”

GHMC Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan Rao announced that the deceased family will get Rs. 13 Lakh as compensation. He further said that Rs. 6 Lakh will be given from the insurance, Rs. 5 Lakh from the contractor and Rs. 2 Lakh from the funds allocated by the GHMC Mayor.

On Tuesday GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore along with the chief engineers examined the place of incident.

Mr. Dana Kishore said, “This is the first time in the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) project history that this unfortunate incident occurred. He also suggested the engineers that to remove the crane carefully at the construction site the reason there is a huge size of water pipeline next to the road and directed the entire workers team to take all the safety measures before they start the construction work.
