Falak’s condition stable, able to breathe: Docs

Two-year-old girl child Falak has shown remarkable improvement in her medical condition with doctors at AIIMS stating that she is “stable” and able to breathe on her own.

The conclusion was arrived after they observed that Falak has been without artificial respiration for the past three days and has shown limb movement without any external stimuli.

“Her condition is stable. She is no more in a critical state as she can now live without ventilator support. She is fit to be shifted to the wards but we have decided to keep her in the ICU least people throng to see her,” said Dr Deepak Agarwal, who has been attending on the girl child since she was admitted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre on January 18.

Falak was brought to the hospital with severe head injuries, broken arms, bite marks all over her body and cheeks branded with hot iron.

“She is moving her limbs, she is opening her eyes. She is no more the same as before. She has survived life saving surgeries, mostly in the brain in the past 44 days. With the nature of injury suffered in her brain, we cannot judge a normal life for her in future. The superficial wounds have healed, the marks are yet to go,” he said.

Moved by Falak’s plight, Indians as well people from the US and Canada have approached doctors, expressing their desire to adopt her.
