Fake visa racket: Five including two Lankans held

Hyderabad, August 23: An international fake visa documents racket was busted with the arrest of five persons including two Sri Lankan nationals here today, police said.

Sleuths of Commissioners Task Force (Central Zone) team busted Chennai-based organised International fake visa racket by apprehending five persons after a raid at Malakpet here and seized incriminating material from their possession, Task Force DCP V B Kamalasan Reddy said.

The five arrested accused who include two Sri Lankans- Krishna Murthy and Veerasingan Rajan operating from Chennai along with the absconding prime accused Mohammed Shahnawaz alias Akif of Global Consultancy, Malakpet were allegedly involved in duping people by supplying them fake visas of Canada, UK, France and other European countries, he said.

“Murthy and Rajan were actively involved in sending Sri Lankan Tamilians illegally to Chennai and later to European countries on fake visas for seeking political asylum and facilitating them in seeking refugee status,” Reddy explained.

The absconding prime accused Akif collected about 150 passports from different individuals and travel agents and also collected an amount of about Rs One crore, the police officer said adding six of the innocent victims who tried to travel to Canada from RGI Airport here on fake visa were detained by Immigration Officials last month. .
