Fake video case: Court rejects bail of BJP IT Secretary for second time

Kolkata: On Wednesday, Birbhum District Court rejected the bail petition of Tarun Sengupta, BJP IT Cell (Secretary). In an alleged fake Facebook post case, he has been in jail for over a month.

Talking to newsmen, Rajesh Kumar, ADG (CID) said that his bail petition has been rejected for the second time.

According to the news published in Indian Express, the case was heard on Monday and the order was passed on Wednesday in which the court rejected the bail petition of Tarun Sengupta after reviewing the case diary.

It may be mentioned that he was arrested on 12th July 2017 and his earlier bail petition was rejected on 3rd August.

It is also reported that he was arrested for allegedly uploaded a fake video of a Muslim police officer beating a Hindu man. As per officials, the video was accompanied by the image of Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of Bengal.

The Facebook post allegedly read, “is Birbhum a part of Bangladesh or Pakistan ? Nishat Parvez SP and ADSP Farhay Abbas ordered the brutal lathicharge and serious thrashing on the peaceful Hanuman Bhakts . Both these Muslim IPS officer were performing their religious duties of destroying the Kafors and idol worshippers without even thinking duties of of their service. Birbhum is next Bangladesh”, Indian Express reported.

He was arrested when State Govt. decided to crack down on social media after the communal violence in Baduria and Basirhat areas.

According to BJP’s Asansol President, Tapas Ray, Tarun Sengupta is an IT convenor till date.

It may be mentioned that TMC led Govt. blames BJP for using social media to trigger communal violence and incite it whereas BJP accuses TMC of appeasing minorities.
