Fake-note racket busted, 4 held

Nellore, March 02: The crime police have busted a counterfeit currency racket by arresting four persons.

Disclosing this to newsmen here today, Superintendent of Police E Damodar said M Nagaraju (21) of Tekkemitta and C Ramachandra Reddy (56) of Ravindra Nagar in Nellore City, P Subbaraju (57) of Sukkupalle in Sullurpet mandal and V Bhaskar (42) of Ranipet in Venkatagiri were arrested when they tried to exchange a fake Rs 1,000 note at a shop in Chinna Bazaar area yesterday.

On being alerted by the shop owner, a police team, led by Crime Inspector J Murali Krishna and fourth town sub-inspector Ch Sudhakar Rao, went to the spot and arrested the quartet. Fake notes worth Rs 5 lakh were seized from them. Bhaskar is a typist in Agriculture Research Station on Lemon in Venkatagiri.

However, the kingpin of the fake note racket O Prabhakar Reddy of Vellore in Tamil Naidu is still at large. A special police team was sent to Vellore to arrest the kingpin.

The SP announced rewards for Inspector Murali Krishna and other members of the police team for busting the fake note racket.

Additional SP J Kanaka Rao and Nellore City DSP Radhika Reddy were also present.
