Pune, July 25: The SSC students who have failed in two subjects but got 40 per cent marks in science subjects will be allowed to take admission in science stream this year.
The state government has decided to implement the ATKT (allowed to keep term) scheme for SSC students from this year itself. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has declared that the ATKT will be applicable to students who have failed in one or two subjects.
The board said in a release that the Class XI admission of students availing themselves of the ATKT facility will be provisional.
“The student has to appear for the exam in October 2009. If he/she fails in it, they will get another chance to clear the subjects in March 2010. If he/she fails to pass in March, their provisional admission to Class XI will be cancelled,” it said.
The ATKT facility is allowed to only those students who have appeared for all subjects in March 2009 SSC exams. Students availing the facility will have to appear only for written exams and not for the orals in October 2009 or March 2010 exams.
