New Delhi: The Supreme Court today after hearing an 80-minute debate over government formation in Maharashtra said it would declare the decision tomorrow.
The plea challenging Devendra Fadnavis-Ajit Pawar duo’s surprise government formation by BJP was challenged in Supreme Court soon after the party made the announcement, NDTV reports.
Ruling party BJP argued that Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had invited Devendra Fadnavis to form government in Maharashtra based on a letter showing the support of 170 MLAs, including all 54 of Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
However, on the other hand, Congress submitted documents claiming the support of 154 MLAs and called for an “immediate” test of strength in the Maharashtra assembly.
