Prof. Khalid Saeed, Director, Center for Urdu language, Literature and Culture of Maulana Azad National Urdu University delivered a lecture in the Dept. of Urdu of the University. He revived the epistemological concepts of Dr. Shamsur Rahman Farooqui about Urdu Ghazal. He also discussed the Ontological Concept of Farooqui. Citing the examples from Mahmood Ayaz, he said that farooqui has drawn heavily from Shibli Nomani’s “Sherul Ajam” in which Shibli has made Semantics and expressionism essential for Urdu Gazal. He also analysis the poems of Meer, Ghalib, Iqbal and Faiz. He pointed out that words are used in new meanings by Iqbal and Faiz.
