Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday said the overall expenditure in the health and education sectors would be much larger this year and added that a large part of the expenditure would be undertaken by the Centre with additions by the state governments.
“The actual expenditure on these sectors is on the increase, it’s just that the mode of expenditure has changed because of the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission. A large part of the expenditure on these sectors is going to be undertaken by the Central Government and because of larger devolution to the states, the states are also going to additionally add to that expenditure,” Jaitley said at a media interaction with RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan.
“The overall expenditure in these sectors would be much larger than any other year,” he added. (ANI)
