Giving a boost to rural development in his State, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao to convene a coordination meeting with Finance, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development departments to expedite the developmental works at village level.
In a teleconference with village-level officials and heads of the departments, the Chief Minister asked the Chief Secretary to coordinate for the convergence of departments for the management of latrines, internal roads, solid waste management and farm ponds. He asked him to utilize funds from NREGA for the purpose, he said.
The Chief Minister also narrated his experience after completing Jana Chaitanya Yatra in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts on Monday. He said the satisfaction level among the public regarding cement roads was very high. He directed the officials to complete construction of internal roads in the next three to four years.
Elucidating on the public response to other welfare schemes, Naidu said pensions and rice distribution were being carried out without any hiccups. He also said the money allotted under SC, ST and BC sub-plan was being well spent. He further said supply of 50 free units of power to BPL families was being appreciated.
Meanwhile, Panchayat Raj Secretary Jawahar Reddy briefed the Chief Minister on the progress regarding NREGA and sub-plans. (NSS)
