State chief electoral officer Bhanwar Lal here on Saturday directed the police and officials to expedite investigation into the criminal cases registered during the recent general elections.
Bhanwar Lal convened a meeting of joint collectors and superintendents of police of four districts in the Visakhapatnam collectorate conference hall today.
During the meeting, the SPs and JCs of those districts brought to his notice about cases registered like cash seizures, liquor smuggling and etc on the eve of the polling. After a patient hearing, Bhanwar Lal asked the police to hasten investigation against the accused and file chargesheets in the courts as early as possible. (NSS)
