Expedite ONGC project, land already allotted: CM to Jaipal

Hyderabad, July 08: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday urged Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas S Jaipal Reddy to direct officials concerned to expedite the implementation of ONGC’s proposed ‘Oil and Gas Data Processing Centre and Corporate Office’ at the Financial District located in Hyderabad and also HPCL’s Refinery and Petrochemical Complex at APSEZ in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

In a letter to the Union Minister, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy reminded Mr Jaipal Reddy that the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has proposed for setting up an ‘Oil and Gas Data Processing Centre and Corporate Office’ at Financial District located in Hyderabad, but the ONGC is yet to implement this project despite the fact that the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has allotted 2.56 acres of land in June 2006.

“This is a prime land in the heart of the Financial District in the midst of many IT and ITES companies,” the Chief Minister said and added that many of the Fortune 500 companies have set up their facilities in an around Hyderabad making it a major hub for IT, ITES and Data Management Service provider.

Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy pointed out that presently, this land is lying idle without being utilised for the said purpose. He said, “I am sure this prestigious project will be a feather in the cap for Hyderabad in attracting some of the best investment in Data management services sector and will create employment opportunities for many unemployed youth in the state and also contribute for the overall all economic development.”

He requested the Union Minister to issue necessary directions to the officials concerned for the speedy implementation of the project and assured him of the complete support of the state government Pradesh in implementation of the project in Andhra Pradesh by providing all required infrastructure facilities and various clearances for the project”.

In another letter to Mr Jaipal Reddy, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy pointed out that the Central government has notified the first Petroleum, Chemical, Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPIR) in the country in Andhra Pradesh.

He also reminded the Union Minister that Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) which has been designated as ‘Anchor unit’ has proposed to set up a Refinery and Petrochemical Complex at APSEZ in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy pointed out that the state government has already allotted 1500 acres of land in the year 2007 and also assured to provide all necessary infrastructure facilities required for the project. However, the HPCL is yet to commence its execution.

The Chief Minister said that, “I am sure this mega refinery project will create employment opportunities to many unemployed youth in the State and also create a large scope for the growth of number of ancillary industries thus contributing for the overall all economic development.”

He requested Mr Jaipal Reddy to issue necessary directions to the concerned for the speedy implementation of the project.
