GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said that the works which are being taken up for ensuing Moharrum festival are not up to the expectations and every need is there to expedite the works on war footing basis.
The Commissioner along with MLC Syed Altaf Hyder Razvi, area Corporators and senior officials of GHMC have inspected the enroute of Moharrum procession from Aza Khana Zehera Ashur Khana, Qutub Khana Zaferia Ashur Khana at Darulshifa, Bibi-ka-Alawa and various lanes and by lanes of enroute procession on Thursday.
The Commissioner said that more importance may be given for temporary lighting arrangements as well as the lifting of garbage and sanitation works. The Commissioner directed the Zonal Commissioner (South) to take up a special drive for lifting of debris on priority, as the areas are looking very shabby.
Somesh Kumar desired to know the working status of each unit along with the attendance sheet with regard to lifting of garbage with clear directions to the Deputy Commissioners to furnish the details of sanitation staff to have a better clarity. The Commissioner ordered that 100% sweeping, lifting of garbage, removal of debris all along the Moharrum procession route must be completed by 08-11-2013 evening without fail. He also further instructed for clearing of Stones, gravel and other debris material which have been accumulated along the road side and also to provide duct for hanging electrical wires on the both sides of Charminar Pedestrian Project in co-ordination with APCPDCL authorities. All the works for ensuing Moharrum should be completed before the 10th Moharrum as per norms, specifications duly maintaining the quality.
The Commissioner directed the Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Circle-4 along with the AMOH and Sanitary staff to personally monitor the sanitation works in the morning and submit the minutes of the inspection and also action taken report of the works taken up to the Commissioner by the evening today (07.11.2013). The Commissioner further informed the officials that he will be visiting the areas again on 8th November night, if the things have not improved the concerned officials have to face the consequences.
Somesh Kumar along with the team visited various areas of South Zone. While on inspection at Charminar he has interacted with the Engineering-in-Chief and Additional Commissioner (Planning), enquired about the Charminar Pedestrian Project, inspected the entire stretch of the project and opined that the project which has to be completed long back is still pending. He has directed the Additional Commissioner (Planning) to take up the proper designs of the heritage buildings in the entire stretch without destroying the importance of the heritage structures and to complete the project on war footing basis.
The Commissioner inspected the fountain at the Gulzar House which is not working and instructed the Zonal Commissioner and the Executive Engineer to put up the proposals for beautifying the fountain as the visitors from all over the World will visit this important place.
