Hyderabad, July 07: The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday demanded that the government extend jurisdiction of the bus services under the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation and also increase the number of bus depots in the rapidly expanding city.
Talking to media persons, BJP state unit vice-president Malla Reddy said that the public, especially students, were facing a torrid time due to the residential colonies spreading further and further away.
Mr Malla Reddy said that the APSRTC was running the bus services on the jurisdiction fixed by the authorities three decades ago and this was insufficient for the rapidly expanding city limits.
He said that hundreds of new colonies, thousands of apartment buildings, educational institutions, engineering and medical colleges, hardware and software parks, factories, Air Force Academy, International Airport have come up on the city outskirts and people living in these dwellings were facing a lot of problems in travelling.
