Even as the ruling Congress and the main Opposition Telugu Desam party have been trying to apply brakes to the YSR Congress Party, it seems to be surging ahead like a juggernaut by continuing to attract members from these parties into its fold.
Both the Congress and TDP seem to be losing their base in West Godavari district as a legislator belonging to the latter deciding to join the YSR Congress, a ruling party MLA on Monday too decided to defect to the Jagan bandwagon.
The Congress legislator from Chintalapudi in the district M. Rajesh shifted his loyalty by calling on the YSR Congress Party honorary president Vijayamma and apprised her of his desire to quit the ruling party and join her party soon. He declared that he had become a legislator because of the blessings of late YSR and was able to develop his constituency.
It may be mentioned here that TDP legislator from the district Vanitha had already announced her decision to quit the party and join the YSR Congress. Meanwhile, former Telugu Desam MLA from Payakaraopet in Visakhpatnam district Chengala Venkatrao called on Vijayamma and joined the YSR Congress.
Meanwhile, the TDP leader from Chintalapudi who contested against Rajesh and lost in the last election also announced his decision to join YSR Congress Party on November 4 at a public meeting in Kovvur to be addressed by Vijayamma. (NSS)
