Execute Kaleshwaram project by Dec: Harish urges BHEL

Commissioning of Kaleshwaram project will become a mega project in the world, if it was completed by the end of December this year and ensure water supply from Ellampally to Mid Manair projects, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has said.

Holding a review meeting with BHEL officials and Irrigation engineers at Jala Saudha here on Saturday, Harish Rao said Kaleshwaram will be the biggest project in the world on completion of package VI pumping station by end of December. It will quench thirst of Hyderabad people by connecting it with Mission Bhagiratha scheme and also will cater to the irrigation needs. “Credit will go to the working agencies and the officials if it is commissioned on time”, the minister remarked. He observed keeping the crucial three months in view, the BHEL appoint two experienced supervisory officials for speedy execution of the works of packages VI and VIII pumping stations. “Now that the officials should focus on completing the 6th package of works and ensure water supply from Ellampally to Mid Manair”, the minister said, adding that the officials should visit the project site every 15 days to monitor erection, testing and commissioning works as the projects was very prestigious to the State government.

Harish further said the two package works should be completed as per schedule, package 6th by November and package 8 by January next. The rest of the packages also should be completed by June next year. The minister asked Megha and Navayuga companies to take all measures to complete on a war-footing the works of the Kaleshwaram project. Since Kaleshwaram is a multi-purpose project to supply drinking waters to Hyderabad and bring under irrigation several lakh of acres in North Telangana districts, the officials should confirm action plan for speedy execution of the works.

Mahbubanagar Project Chief Engineer Khagender Rao said they commissioned three pumps under Kalwakurty III phase works and will do so IV pump in two to three days. When officials asked for machinery for Nettempadu, Koilsagar and sought repairs, the minister asked BHEL officials to plunge into action to fix the problems by October. Harish also asked them to complete package 20 of Kaleshwaram project by June 2018.

Minister OSD Deshpandey, Government Advisor Penta Reddy, Chief Secretary S K Joshi, ENC Muralidhar Rao, BHEL top officials Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Rajiv Singh, Soundarya Rajan and others were present. (NSS)
