Exclusive police TV channel mooted at DGPs’ meet

New Delhi, August 26: Views of police force, success stories of investigators, workout schedule for securitymen and legal advice for them will be on air daily if a suggestion to launch an exclusive police TV channel is accepted by the government.

The idea was floated during the two-day conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of police forces of the country here and it was supported by many of the top police officers.

Sources said such a TV channel will help the two million policemen, including 18 lakh police constables, across the country.

During the conference, most of the officers emphasised that lack of mid-career training to junior officials and constables hamper their performance.

In his address, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh too said that “training of our officers and men engaged in this theatre (fight against Maoists) should particularly engage yours systematic attention”.
