Former Pakistan pace spearhead Wasim Akram has said that he would be thrilled to witness a lefties’ showdown at Adelaide Oval when his country’s side will take on co-hosts Australia on Friday in their quarterfinal clash.
The Adelaide showdown would showcase a feast of left-arm pacemen with Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc being the current leading wicket-taker for scalping 16 wickets in the tournament.
While Mitchell Johnson (9) and James Faulkner (3) would form Australia’s left-bowling trio, Wahab Riaz (14) and Rahat Ali (7) would be gearing up for Pakistan.
Commenting on the upcoming lefties’ showdown, Akram said that it excites him no end, adding that when he used to play there were very few left-armers, admitting that it was a sort of novelty but now and he would be the most excited person at Adelaide Oval, the Dawn reported.
Describing Starc as the ‘best performer’ of the tournament, Akram said that the pace bowler has height; swings the ball and that is why he is so successful. (ANI)
