Sangareddy, January 13: Excise officials on Thursday conducted raids and destroyed ganja being cultivated illegally plantations spread over four acres at Yanakpalli village in Manuru mandal under Medak district.
According to Excise sleuths, the raids were conducted on definite information that marijuana plantations were being cultivating illegally in the farm lands. However, no one was arrested in this connection.
The officials said raids conducted as part of drive to check cultivation of ganja and destroyed crops worth an estimated Rs 5 crore at the plantations.
However, they said the value of the destroyed ganja was yet to be ascertained.
Ganja cultivation is banned under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. A case has been registered under Medak district police station.
