Jammu, August 09: The Excise Department collected revenue of Rs 46.71 crore in July this year, Rs 13.80 crore more than raised in July last year, a top official of the department said.
So far, in the current fiscal, the department registered a hike of Rs 20.82 crore in its revenue collections till July this year as compared to the same period last year, he said.
While reviewing the performance of the department in a meeting of senior officers here last evening, Excise Commissioner Pradeep Gupta directed the Deputy Excise Commissioners concerned to have liaison with the executing agencies to speed up various infrastructure projects.
All the Deputy Excise commissioners and Excise and Taxation officers from various ranges all over the state participated in the meeting.
The progress of the work of the Toll Plaza at Lakhanpur, Toll Plaza Nagri and Toll Post at Railway station Udhampur was also reviewed in the meeting, he said.
Gupta informed that an additional sum of Rs five crore has recently been released for completion of the Toll Plaza at Lakhanpur and directed the Deputy Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur, to closely monitor the project.
He asked the officers to exercise vigil to ensure that there is no evasion of Toll and Excise revenue. Gupta directed the officers to conduct regular raids to eradicate the menace of bootlegging and manufacture of illicit liquor.
