Exam candidates fall off train, station vandalised in WB

Sporadic violence broke out in several parts of South 24-Parganas district on Sunday after some candidates for the examination to recruit primary school teachers fell off a jam-packed local train at Baruipur station.

The incident took place this morning when thousands of aspirants for the Primary Teachers Eligibility Test gathered at the Baruipur station platform to travel to their respective examination venues.

When a train entered the station, a jostle ensued among the passengers to get into the train and in the melee, three candidates tumbled off the train.

The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital for primary medical treatment.

The incident angered the crowd which blocked the railway tracks and vandalised the station premises.

However, later, the situation was brought under control by the police.
