New Delhi: Noted intellectual, historian and former vice chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia Prof Mushirul Hasan was laid to rest the graveyard of Jamia Millia Islamia. Former Vice President Hamid Ansari, acting vice-chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia Shahid Ashraf, AP Siddiqui (IPS), former Vice-Chancellor Najeeb Jung and Shahid Mehdi also attended the funeral procession along with thousands of mourners.
Later a condolence meeting was held at Ansari auditorium in Jamia Millia Islamia. Addressing on the occasion the acting vice-chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia prof Shahid Ashraf termed the demise of Prof Mushirul Hasan a great tragedy for Jamia and a great loss for the country. He said professor had a personality worth immolating and the services rendered by him in the field of research, compilation and academics were remarkable.
Professor Mushirul Hasan died at the age of 69. He could not completely recover after he met with an accident in 2014. He was ill for a long time. Born on 15th August 1949 Prof Mushirul Hasan bagged a number of honours including Padmashree and authored over 50 books.
