Ex-MP Vivek calls on KCR

Congress senior leader and former MP G Vivek called on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at latter’s office here on Wednesday.

Speaking to media persons later, Vivek said he had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister requesting him to hasten the process of setting up of a memorial for his late father G Venkataswamy, who passed away recently. He said Venkataswamy was a freedom fighter and a strong Telangana protagonist. He said his father had serve people through various posts that he held in long political career. He actively participated in 1969 statehood agitation and was a strong supporter of separate Telangana. He said KCR had promised to build a memorial at Necklace Road in honour of Venkataswamy and he called on him today to speed up the process.

Vivek also made it clear that his visit was purely personal and was confined to the memorial of his father. He said he had no plans to quit the Congress party. (INN)
